NBCS Memo - March 6

Our 2019 NBCS Open House is TOMORROW! Please plan to bring the whole family. This is a great opportunity to visit with your student's teacher, fellowship with other parents, enjoy snacks, games, a bounce house, and listen as leaders share plans for the upcoming school year.

Our NBCS Band and Choir will be performing at the beginning of our Parent Meeting at 7:30 p.m. All band students must remember to bring their instruments and dress in their NBCS P.E. shirts (or a blue/gray shirt). 1st-8th grade choir and band students will need to be in the music room at 7:10 to warm up.

Please invite any families you know who may be considering NBCS for the 2019-20 school year. We would love to meet them and help answer any questions they have!

We are looking forward to a wonderful night together!

There will be no school THIS Friday, March 8th, for a Faculty Work Day. Enjoy the extra day added on to your Spring Break!

Office Announcements & Reminders

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be held on the 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Each student received a notice at school today with their conference time. Please email Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org if you have any questions or concerns regarding your Parent/Teacher Conference!
2019-20 Re-Enrollment Open!
It is hard to believe we are already planning for the 2019-20 school year! Each family should have received a re-enrollment and update form. This form and payment must be returned to the office by March 20th. After this date there will be an additional $50 late fee.

As you are preparing for the upcoming school year, please know that we are praying for you. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help!
Iowa Assessments
Our Kindergarten-8th grade students will be taking the Iowa Assessments and Cognitive Abilities Tests from April 1st-5th. All parents should have received an email with further details. The testing fee is $25 per student. Please bring this payment to the school office by March 29th.

State Qualifier Announced!

NBCS has been notified by the National Geographic Society that Priscilla Harder is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee Kansas State Competition. The contest will be held in Abilene on Friday, March 29, 2019.

Congratulations, Priscilla! We are so proud of you!

Annual Eagle 5K
Saturday, April 9, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
Athletic Park, Newton, KS

Our annual Eagle 5K Fun Run/Walk event is fast approaching! This event is one of our largest fundraisers each year - and one of our favorite times together! Whether you run, walk, or crawl, all are encouraged to join us in supporting NBCS in this way.

How can YOU help?

1. Register to Run/Walk - Student registration forms were sent home with students this week. Please register your student by filling out and returning the form to the office by March 20th. This tells us you are committed to participating and seeking sponsors. Parents who wish to participate may register by emailing Carissa or by clicking here.
Registrations on active.com must be in by March 29th!

2. Ask Sponsors - Students only have to raise a minimum of $15 and their registration is free (PLUS they receive a free t-shirt)! But, raise more and students will be in the running for a class pizza party and be supporting their school! Sponsorship forms were also sent home today. These may be copied and distributed to everyone you know! This is an easy way to help support NBCS and spread the word about our school.

3. Volunteer - This race cannot happen without your help. Even if you do not race, there are many ways for you to get involved! Please email Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org if you are willing to help at this event.

4. Distribute Flyers - Eagle 5K flyers are available in the school office. Stop by and pick some up to spread around town!

Do you have friends you are interested in attending NBCS? We would love to have them join us for at day at school! Please contact the office for more information and to RSVP.
