NBCS Memo - January 14

As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday! Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

On February 10th, 2022, we will host our 9th Annual NBCS Fine Arts Competition!  Kindergarten-8th Grade NBCS students have the opportunity to compete in categories ranging from piano solos to duet acting to oil painting to woodworking...and many, many more!

Students received registration forms at school. Registration and payment are due by THIS Tuesday, January 18th. Click here for a description document to briefly explain each of the categories. We would love to have all students participate!  After you register, you will then receive further rules and directions for that specific event.

Homeschoolers are also welcome to participate in this event. Please spread the word to any families you know who might be interested!

Also, parents, don’t forget to mark your calendars to attend this event!  It is a joy to view the art projects, listen to the speeches and instrumental performances, and hear the choirs perform. We are looking forward to it!

Students will be extra cozy for class next Friday, January 21!  Everyone is invited to wear slippers and sweats to school!  Please make sure all apparel is modest and in accordance with NBCS dress code standards.

What?  Kansas Day Field Trip!
Who?  All students in 1st-8th Grade
When?  Thursday, January 27
(Classes will leave at 9:15 and return to school at 2:45.)
Cost?  $5 for admission

Please bring your student’s $5 admission fee to the office by January 24th.

We would love for students to wear period clothing and bring a lunch that they might have carried to school in the 1860’s or 1870’s. This means no plastic! For example, please pack sandwiches wrapped in waxed paper and carried in a basket, bucket, or paper sack. If students wish to purchase sarsaparilla or root beer at Cowtown, they may bring $3 with their lunch.

This field trip is not open to siblings, but if parents would like to attend and help with transportation, please let Carissa know by emailing nbcs@newtonbible.org!

In Loving Memory of Jerry Nickel
After the recent passing of Jerry Nickel, Marcia Zuercher's father, the Nickel family chose that many of the memorial gifts should be given to support the ministry of NBCS. Our school was a ministry that Jerry supported and loved. He was involved in NBCS in many ways over his lifetime.
We wish to express our humble thanks for the gifts we received. We were able to purchase new basketballs and other P.E. supplies. Jerry's life is one that the Lord used in countless ways to bless and further the ministry of NBCS!
Below are pictures of Mr. Nickel with a few of the NBCS basketball teams that he coached. His influence was felt by many students!
