NBCS Memo - April 6

There will be no school tomorrow or on Monday, April 10th. We hope everyone enjoys their 4-day weekend as we celebrate our Risen Lord!

NBCS Moms, you are invited to join us at 3:00 p.m. next Friday, April 14th, as we pray for our school ministry, students and teachers. This is our last Moms in Prayer for the school year, so please make plans to join us for this time!

Our 10th Annual Eagle 5K is on Saturday, April 22! Whether you run, walk, or crawl, all are encouraged to join us in supporting NBCS in this way.

What do YOU need to do?

1. Register to Run/Walk - Please register by emailing Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org or clicking here. Register by THIS Monday, April 10th, to receive the discounted rate!

2. Ask for Sponsors - Students are encouraged to send sponsor letters to all their family and friends.  Raising a minimum of $15 will cover their race registration and t-shirt, but more will support our school!

3. Volunteer - We still need some race watchers for this event! These volunteers are stationed along the race route to make sure competitors stay on the route. Whether you bring pom-poms to cheer them along or a book to read, it is a relaxing way to volunteer at the Eagle 5K!
Email Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org if you would like to serve in this way.

Test Payment
Testing is this next week! There is a $25 testing fee for each student, grades K-7th.  Please bring this payment to the school office next week.

How your student can prepare for test taking—and what you can do to help
A student who is well rested, well-fed and has a positive attitude about testing is best prepared for testing. You can help your student do his or her best by considering these tips.

-Make sure that your student is in school and on time on test days. Reschedule dentist appointments and other out-of-school time for non-testing days.

-Make sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing. Students may also bring an extra, healthy snack for test days. Thinking is hard work, and we want students to be fueled for the task!

About the Iowa Assessments
The Iowa Assessments measure achievement in several important content areas including Reading, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. These assessments identify a student’s strengths and areas that may need additional emphasis and provide information about a student’s progress over time.

About the Cognitive Abilities Test
The Iowa Assessments measure what students have learned. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) measures the way students learn.

Have you reserved your spot for our NBCS 50th Anniversary Celebration on April 28th? Seating will be assigned, so please RSVP by next Friday if you plan to attend.
