NBCS Memo - April 9

We are excited about our all-school program this coming Thursday night!

Here are a few reminders regarding that evening:

Bring Snacks - Following the program, light refreshments will be served in the gym. Families with a last name beginning in A-M, please bring a salty/healthy snack to share, and O-Z families please bring a sweet snack.

Arrive Early
- All students must arrive at 6:30 p.m. K5 will gather in their classroom and 1st-8th grade students may assemble in the Music Room.

Wear Costume - Older students have their assigned costumes. All Kindergarten-3rd grade students are asked to dress as their favorite Bible character. We don't want this to be difficult for parents. Feel free to wrap a towel/sheet around their clothes and tie a rope around their waist!

Following our performance on Thursday night, there will be no school on Friday. Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

Don’t miss out on this chance to order your 2020-21 Newton Bible Christian School Yearbook!  This is a special keepsake, full of cherished memories and reminders from the school year.  The yearbook includes class and individual photos, plus pages devoted to field trips and events unique to NBCS.

The cost of a yearbook is $20.  Order form and payment are due by NEXT Wednesday, April 14th.  Please make checks payable to NBCS.  You will then be contacted this summer when your yearbooks are ready to pick up! Click here to download your copy of the order form.

Standardized testing week is complete! We are thankful for the diligence the students have displayed.

Our school was excited to cover the cost of purchasing student tests this year. However, there is a $15/student AACS fee for scoring tests and mailing results to the school and parents.

Please return this $15/student fee to the school office by Monday, April 19. Testing results will then be mailed to you as soon as they are available.

We are thrilled to partner with an NBCS dad, Mr. Clint McBroom, as he prepares to travel down to Matamoros, Mexico next Friday. Will you join us in bringing supplies to the school office for this refugee relief project?

All donations must be delivered by next Thursday, April 15th. See below for a list of items they would like to take to deliver to the refugees.

As we near the end of the school year, we need to be diligent to finish well! We have noticed that many of our students have not been carefully following the NBCS Dress Code. Parents and students, please click here to review our dress code. If you have any questions regarding appropriate attire, feel free to ask!

Our Annual Eagle 5K Fun Run/Walk event is fast approaching!  This event is one of our largest fundraisers each year - and one of our favorite times together!  Whether you run, walk, or crawl, all are encouraged to join us in supporting NBCS in this way.

How can YOU help?

1. Register to Run/Walk - Student registration forms have been sent home.  If you have not already, please register your student by filling out and returning the form to the office.  Parents may also register by emailing Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org. All registrations are due by April 23rd!

2. Ask for Sponsors - Students are encouraged to send sponsor letters to ALL their family and friends.  Raising a minimum of $15 will cover their race registration and t-shirt, but more will support our school!  PLUS, students who raise the most will receive a pizza party and additional prizes!

We also love business sponsors! A donation of $50 or more from your business will not only support our school, but your logo will also be printed on the back of the t-shirts. Please email your business logo to nbcs@newtonbible.org by April 23rd!

3. Volunteer - This race cannot happen without your help.  We need volunteers to help with registration, timing, snacks, etc. Please contact Carissa if you are willing to help!

4. Distribute Flyers - Eagle 5K flyers are available in the school office.  Stop by and pick some up to spread around town!

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Melissa Unruh back to NBCS!

Mrs. Unruh taught Pre-K at NBCS during the 2016-17 school year. She brings a wealth of teaching experience and expertise to NBCS. Mrs. Unruh grew up attending Christian school and holds an education degree from the University of Kansas. She and her husband Lee live in Newton with their three children. Mrs. Unruh's hobbies include outdoor activities and reading. Read below for Mrs. Unruh's description of the Pre-K program at NBCS.

"The Pre-K at Newton Bible Christian School provides a caring, Christian environment for young children who are just beginning their journey in a classroom setting. Our Pre-K program is designed to help nurture a joy and an eagerness for learning. The classroom experience is fun, interactive, and intentional with the purpose of developing your child both academically and spiritually. By participating in hands -on experiences from a research-based curriculum that covers Bible, early literacy, handwriting, number concepts, social skills, and thematic exploration, our students leave Pre-K confident and fully prepared for kindergarten. "
