NBCS Memo - January 20

Our Kansas Day Celebration is this next Friday, January 27!

The day will be filled with many activities centered around TRAINS! Kindergarten-7th grade students will visit the Harvey Co. Historical Museum, as well as participate in workshops at school. In the afternoon, 3rd-7th grades will visit the train depot!

***Parents, don't forget to send car seats/booster seats with your students, if needed.***

There is no need to pack a lunch that day. Mrs. Adams is providing a traditional Harvey House lunch for everyone! Thank you, Mrs. Adams!

We love when students dress up for Kansas Day! Whether you dress as a train conductor, a passenger with suitcase, or a traditional KS prairie girl or cowboy, we will enjoy celebrating Kansas' history together!

Over 100 entries were submitted for our 10th Annual Fine Arts Competition on February 10th! We are thrilled by your participation and the willingness of over 25 judges who will make this event happen!

This event will be held on Friday, February 10th at 12:30 p.m.  This will be a normal school day for NBCS students, but parents are invited to come at 12:30 to view the performances and art gallery.

Instructions for each of your individual categories have been emailed to parents. Judging forms and Artist Idea Statements were sent home with students this past week.

Listed below are the items which are due to the school office by 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8th.
· Judging Forms (with top portion filled out)
· Art Projects
· Art Paperwork (Artist’s Idea Statements, original designs/designs, etc.)
· Copy of speech/music piece (1 copy for each entry)

***DRESS CODE***
Please note that we ask all 1st-8th students who are performing to wear a button-up, light-colored, solid top, and dark-colored dress pants, skirt, or dress.  All dresses and skirts should be worn to the middle of the knee. We also ask that all boys wear a tie, if they have one.

Please do not hesitate to contact the office with further questions.  You may email Carissa at nbcs@newtonbible.org or call 316-283-1337. We are looking forward to a wonderful event!

We are thrilled to have J.J. Jasper join us for our 50th Anniversary Celebration! Mark your calendars and plan to celebrate with us as we reflect on all God has done in and through NBCS since 1973!

Click here to visit our anniversary event page on Facebook. Please feel free to share this event with anyone who has been involved in the ministry of NBCS over the years! Even if they are not able to attend the celebration, they will enjoy the pictures and memories we share in the coming months!

"Meet" our speaker for the evening by reading the bio below!

Our 50th Anniversary Celebration's guest speaker, JJ Jasper, is a veteran morning on-air radio personality, best-selling author, comedian, dedicated Christian, and devoted family man.

JJ hosts a national morning radio show on the American Family Radio network (approximately 200 stations in 36 states). When he’s not motivating listeners with his unique brand of humor and encouragement, he's entertaining people as a stand-up comedian and keynote speaker.

He is the author of Losing Cooper: Finding Hope to Grieve WellMoses Was a Basket Case, and Jonah Had a Whale of a Time.

JJ and his wife, Melanie, have a soft spot for Christian education. Over the years, they have seen the investment they made at work in the lives of their children and are so thankful that they set them up on a strong foundation in the Lord. "You cannot put a value on the Word of God being at the center of your kid's life."

JJ is looking forward to the time that he will spend at NBCS and sharing his message about how a Christ-centered education is worth it all. Here's a quote from JJ that is worthy of our consideration: "Neutrality in education can be pretended, but never accomplished. Someone's values will always be taught."
