Why Host a Fine Arts Meet?

What drives the school to endure the craziness of hosting a fine arts meet? Please permit me to offer four reasons. First, this is an extra event that we are capable of doing--for the entire school. We do not have enough students for a robust sports program, but we can certainly host a fine arts meet.

Second, this event can serve a number of different groups of people. Invite the grandparents, uncles and aunts, neighbors, and family friends. Perhaps we have homeschool families who are interested? They are more than welcome to participate too.

Third, children need such an event to grow properly in their skills. Getting feedback by judges may be painful for a time, but helpful criticism can do wonders for one’s development. A good student will listen to criticism, change, and appreciate those who have helped him.

Fourth, children may be presented with the opportunity to take glory for themselves or give it to God. Applause is proper after a performance, but how will each child respond? Hopefully, the motivation from the beginning is a desire to use what God has given for God's glory.
